About Me
My name is Kyra Kliman. I'm a junior at SNC. I'm majoring in ODAL and Journalism. In my free time I enjoy being in the outdoors hiking, snowboarding, and learning from others.
Chasing Waves
Clayton Coates
Chasing Waves
Life has a way of twisting and turning, much
like descending an untamed river. Along
the way you are sure to meet powerful waves which push you off your intended
path. I too have encountered what seemed
to be insurmountable crashing waves. The
greatest lesson I’ve learned from these tribulations, is once you learn to face
the wave and break through it head on with all the momentum you can summon,
you’ll look back with appreciation for the experience in its entirety. Only then will you realize your full potential
and eagerly look towards the next challenge the unpredictable current has to
offer.
Zac Brown Band, Day That I Die
I believe that I, was born with a
song inside of me,
Never question why,
I just keep on chasing that melody,
And as time goes by, its funny how time can make you
realize,
We’re running out of it.
On the day that I die, I want to say that I,
Was a man who really lived and never compromised,
And while I lived out my days, until the very end,
I hope they find me in my home, with my guitar in my hand
I hope they find me in my home, with my guitar in my hand
Why else am I here?
Salutations
The name is Dejaneri Maestas, but I go by Deja (yes very much like déjà vu). I was born and raised in the inner city of Denver, CO. I tried to stay away from hood rat activities so I could travel the world, and I guess you can say it worked because here I am in Lake Tahoe.
Confused Journalist
Growing up with anxiety and depression left my 6 year old mind with insights that most middle aged people have not yet discovered. This made for a difficult childhood filled with therapy sessions and an endless search for a coping mechanism. The words started bleeding across the page as my mom finally gave into my temper tantrum over a bright pink notebook. Each title read “what is my purpose?” as I pondered why I was put on this earth. Little did I know, I was holding my purpose within my hands. I was put on this earth to create. I love being vulnerable in my creations and doing so across all platforms from words on paper, videos, to photography. My passion has led me to where I am today. I am finishing my senior year as associate editor of the Eagle's Eye.
Oh yeah, and I am passionate about beer...

Here is a battery of links that may be useful to you in the formatted poem, our first html-based assignment:
I want you to take a poem or song lyrics, and use text formatting to "design" the text in ways that emphasize properties of the poem/song (for instance, if there is a line that's very angry, perhaps the font is larger and red for that section). I want you to use at least six different text properties (color, font face, size, alignment, etc.) in the course of the poem/song.
Links to CSS text and font info:

And here, below, is some basic html text styling code – utilizing inline CSS – that I thought might be helpful as a "base file" for you to build your poem out of. Hopefully it gives an idea of some basic text-styling syntax (I'll break it down in class):

ON THE RUN
Howdy. My name is Katherine "Kat" Watson and I am originally from Austin, Texas. It quite literally drives me insane if I stay in one spot -mentally or physically- for too long. On the other hand, I have a rocky relationship with my travels. Despite my tempestuous past with traveling, I have found that my life is easiest lived with a true vagabond cowboy mentality.

Who am I?
Hello!
My name is Allie Engberson and soccer is what brought me to SNC four years ago. I will be graduating at the end of the semester with an education in Humanities. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life where I will be creating a classroom of my own.

Elizabeths Profile
Hi! My name is Elizabeth White, I'm from Indiana and I collect weird coffee mugs. This one's my favorite, because it's an octopus with a bowtie. Cheers!

My name's AJ and I was born and raised in Kenya. On the beach and in the trees is where I spent most of my days.
No Obstacle is too Great to Overcome
I grew up in the hustle and bustle of the bay area. Learned quickly that challenges were opportunities for success. No matter how great or difficult they may seem.

Vilde Johansen
Hi, everyone! My name is Vilde Johansen and I am originally from Norway. I came to SNC in 2016 mainly because of the ski-team, and after a semester I decided to get my bachelor in Marketing and Global Business Management. I graduate in May, which went way too fast, but all good things come to an end I guess!Assignment for Wednesday (1/30)
Two things are due by the start of class Wednesday-
1. Make a post on this blog, introducing yourself. Think of it in terms of “first impression “ websites tend to build, using: a strong image - a headline (which you can insert as the post “title”) - and a short paragraph. Think of this in terms of “voice” - try to avoid being generic. It’s possible to give a sense of personality in just a sentence or two.
2. Pick out a poem or song lyrics that you’ll style for a web page in class Wednesday. We’ll be using html and css tags to introduce color and other style elements to the text. Make sure you’ve downloaded the sublimetext app if you’re using your own laptop, so we can hit the ground running.

Welcome - Web Design SP19
Welcome to the blog for the web design class.
Be prepared, next class, to talk about why you like the website for a presentation of five to ten minutes. Write and print out an outline, which you will hand in on Monday's class (this is not a full paper, but an outline you can refer to in your presentation). Talk about:
1. The design of the site
You should be able to describe the use of:
a) color
b) fonts
c) images
d) the general layout
How do each of these elements serve (or undermine) the purpose and content of the website? What is the emotional or design quality of each of these elements? For instance, a site designed for children might use colors that are bright, vivid, and friendly -- with a font that appears playful or toy-like.
2. The navigation of the site
How it the site organized? How do you get from place to place? Is the content on the site easily accessible? Are there different navigation schemes on different parts of the site, or is it consistent across the site?
3. The functionality of the site -- what the site "does."
