Week 2 Monday: Provide a brief description of the amazon. Include a list of creatures of the amazon rainforest as well as their descriptions.

Wednesday: Add an educational video about the amazon rainforest.

Week 3 Monday: Include background color and designs to the website.

Wednesday: Add my quote on what the amazon rainforest means to me.

Week 4 Monday: Provide contact information.

Wednesday:  How can I relate conservation, science and news to the amazon rainforest?

Week 5 Monday:  Include columns at the top of the page.

Wednesday: Conclude with any finishing touches to the website.

Today I looked at some images of waterfalls that would go great in my opening webpage.

Plan and problemlog

Week 1

  • Work on a wireframe for the site.
Week 2: April 4th – 10th
  • Friday and into the weekend: Video & photoshoot for the bagels.
  • Monday begin editing the images and videos. Decide what images will be best for each section and which should be used as a gallery and saved for Instagram and Facebook by Wednesday.

  • Begin testing the site to make sure all the different components are working and everything flows.
  • Double check all images are working and be sure all images have alt text.
  • Ensure the site is mobile responsive.
  • Test all links and sites usability and compatibility.

Ongoing Problem Log:

April 1st - Worked on logo design more, trying to incorporate the company name into the design.
Found a new layout, that puts less emphasis on photos and more content. Will begin working on a creating a mountain range vector to help distinguish sections, similar to the city skyline in the product list of the  Spread the Bagel site. Also struggling with certain sections showing up on site preview that are showing up on the dashboard. Though Webflow is user-friendly, I need to take the time to watch all of the tutorials online, rather than bits and pieces.

April 5th - Photoshoot was a huge fail, (only got one "useable" image) need to gather more ideas for staging and actually think about how it will be executed prior to going into the shoot.

April 10th - Decide against the whole "video" background. Realized most people don't care to see or watch a video when they just want a damn bagel. So reworking everything to be as simple as possible and user-friendly when someone may be hangry.
Also after creating and deleting countless logos in a spiteful rage, I finally have a logo I like. Needing to figure out how to get it to pop and flow on the website nicely.

April 22nd - I have been struggling with getting the design to my liking and today I switched templates... Not liking the layout has caused a major delay in making the website. Switching, though losing all of my previous work, has made me feel as though I will actually be able to accomplish what I want with this website. Still struggling with getting the site to be appealing while also being informing for my audience (local business owners).

Website

Temporary IP for website: 45.32.217.246
Only the template is online, have not uploaded changes that i've made offline.

 5 Week Plan:

  1. Gather stats for graphs
    1. Use R to begin visualization
    2. Be able to match colors to websites
    3. Finalize colors for site
  2. Mockup design around graphs and finish with R visualization
    1. Begin to add words but lets the graphs speak for themselves
    2. font choice ect.
  3. Make use of other media to add long to site
    1. Download and edit youtube video to match site
    2. Figure out how to autoplay as a background
  4. Ensure the site is useable on all platforms
    1. Create name and change ip to Name
    2. Ensure VPS is the right choice for project
    3. Add in grahps and statistics
  5. Finalize design, get feedback and adjust site
    1. Workshop other ideas to add onto the site
    2. finish all missing work
Problem Log:

4/1: Finished website, april fools, installed and began visualizing stats for the website. Need to use another method to fill shot charts better given the lack of attempts last year. Need to install and use R on desktop PC and finish before next week.

4/15: Began trying to embed a background video similar to the public lands/space themed website we saw in class. Need to use adobe premier to edit together a small video with similar colors and tones as the inspiration image. and use either option chris linked as options in the comments of this.

4/17: Test.mp4 is up and playing as a background video. This was done by creating a new div in the header and adding new lines of CSS to edit the background video. Problem I have now is the view is extremely zoomed in to the video cropping lots of the video out. Here is what it looks like now, the full video completely shows those two circles on either side.

5/1: This website is certainly difficult. Any small changes I make affect the whole website. I have made the video to play on the background and have small templates for the information in the main body of the website.

5/6: Video is still smaller than it should be. Have to remove or incorporate some of the elements on the  template. Need to link tabs across the top. Decide whether or not to write along side some of the images to tell a story.
