Take a water taxi on a misty morning across the water hyacinth filled lake and this island appears like a ghost. The entire island is a series of stairs lined with wonderful little shops, restaurants and stalls. It is stepping back in time since nothing much has changed here in hundreds of years. Vibrant colors, the statue at the apex of the island, the views and the butterfly fisherman on the lake are just surreal. You could easily spend the day here exploring.
I love walking and what a better place than the Isle of Janitzio, the place of no cars. Yes, no buses, cabs or vehicles. Take the boat from several locations around Lake Patzcuaro. I prefer the muelle (boat dock in Patzcuaro) and walk up hill to the best views of the Lake. If you feel adventuresome, talk a walk up the spiral staircase to the top of the statue for peep holes for viewing. Along the way on the interior walls is the life of Morelos is depicted in murals painted by Ramón Alba de la Canal and other great Mexican muralists. The boats operate daily and are a treat

Stone's Throw Away

Stone’s Throw Away is a growing collection of emerging artists curated by Piera Bernhard.
The project began in 2018. Its first bi-annual book publication will be
printed in June followed by the second in December.

Submissions are accepted year-round.

What is an artists' publication?
An artists' publication is a series or collection of works published independently by the artist or a group of artists. The books includes imagery, text and poetry stemming from a variety of mediums and subject matter.

I have created an online database to host my books' content. It acts as a gallery for those artists featured in the small (about 30 page) books that are published twice a year.

My community may include:

Artists’ Publication Network
http://www.artists-pub.eu

The Printed Matter : a non-profit organization dedicated to the printed artists’ book
https://www.printedmatter.org/about

Zoetrope: All-Story Magazine
http://www.all-story.com

The Holland Project : Local Arts and Events Gallery
https://www.hollandreno.org

But does it float : A gallery of artists
https://butdoesitfloat.com

The link to Stone's Throw Away will appear here next week -- soon as I pay for it's public viewing.
Stay tuned!

Landscape photography is about the experience; getting out and nature and finding that unforgettable shot. The outdoors is the perfect subject for photographers who are just starting out because no fancy equipment is needed. Just a camera, even your smartphone will do, and a good pair of hiking boots. Nature affords the perfect lighting, which is best in the "golden hour" before dusk and after sunset. Nature also provides a stationary subject. There's no rush. You can take as long as you need to get the shot, without having to worry about wearing down the patience of the model you are working with. Landscape photography is also the most personally rewarding. You're getting fresh air, exercise, and the tranquil that goes along with being out in nature. I love landscape photography because it actually engages me in the landscape. I'm looking at the scenery from different angles, trying to absorb it all in a way that I never do without my camera. I'm focused on the moment, instead of thinking about what I have to do when I get home.

Stabilizer options for smooth motion

Gimbal:
Probably the most mechanically smooth footage you will get.  Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, vis placerat conclusionemque no, in ius brute expetenda conclusionemque, nam wisi fugit atomorum in. Doctus quaeque eam ad, erroribus scriptorem reprehendunt sit eu, ius commodo vivendo accusata ut. Eu legendos repudiare pri

Glidecam:
Footage has a bit more character, analog system that takes a bit of practice to properly use.  Hinc eleifend intellegam ad cum. Mel libris vituperata ex, at qui impetus abhorreant. Habeo fastidii in pro, mel ea novum erant, vel labores atomorum cu. Vis facer discere habemus no. Et vidit mediocritatem mei. No ipsum fugit pri, nec aliquid constituam ea.

Drone:
Can have a mechanical look, long slow movements lend well to tracking a subject from the air.  Usu et verterem detraxit. Ut nam quidam cetero partiendo, has aliquam voluptatibus ad, eos in adipisci salutandi. Te quo omnis suavitate. Cum erroribus reformidans ex, fabulas offendit at has. Sea eu partiendo abhorreant, mei volutpat erroribus delicatissimi ad, in pri sumo iudico.

Shutter speed- In photography this is how you control how long you can leave the shutter open to capture an image. Shutter speed is very important in most of my photos. Since I do a lot of landscape and action photography, I have to always worry about shutter speed. In Landscapes I usually do long exposures, which is leaving the shutter open for an extended amount of time. For action photos I need to use a very fast shutter speed in order to clearly capture a moving subject.
